چکیده

This Distributed rule-based systems, like a distributed version of Jess, are needed for real applications. The proposed architecture for such system is based on several instances of Jess distributed in a Condor pool and a central manager allowing the cooperation between these instances. Efficiency tests are performed on classical benchmarks. Key-Words: Distributed rule-based engines, cluster simulations

A worldwide flock of Condors: Load sharing among workstation clusters

Condor is a distributed batch system for sharing the workload of compute-intensive jobs in a pool of Unix workstations connected by a network. In such a Condor pool, idle machines are spotted by Condor and allocated to queued jobs, thus putting otherwise unutilized capacity to e cient use. When institutions owning Condor pools cooperate, they may wish to exploit the joint capacity of their pool...

CamGrid: Experiences in constructing a university-wide, Condor-

In this article we describe recent work done in building a university-wide grid at the University of Cambridge based on the Condor middleware [1]. Once the issues of stakeholder concerns (e.g. security policies) and technical problems (e.g. firewalls and private IP addresses) have been taken into account, a solution based on two separate Condor environments was decided on. The first of these is...

Leveraging HTC for UK eScience with Very Large Condor pools: Demand for transforming untapped power into results

We provide an insight into the demand from the UK eScience community for very large High Throughput Computing resources and provide an example of such a resource in current production use: the 930-node eMinerals Condor pool at UCL. We demonstrate the significant benefits this resource has provided to UK eScientists via quickly and easily realising results throughout a range of problem areas. We...

Distributed computing in practice: the Condor experience

Since 1984, the Condor project has enabled ordinary users to do extraordinary computing. Today, the project continues to explore the social and technical problems of cooperative computing on scales ranging from the desktop to the world-wide computational grid. In this chapter, we provide the history and philosophy of the Condor project and describe how it has interacted with other projects and ...
